One year ago this spring, continued COVID-19 fallout was contributing to a massive shortage of staff lifeguards in the city. So much so that Glendale’s public pools were in danger of limited operating hours, or even not opening at all.
Glendale’s Senior Recreation Coordinator Dean Kinnoin reported this month that not only is the city concluding its hiring process for lifeguards, they’ll be fully staffed.
“We will be able to open both locations fully for the summer,” he said.
Both Rose Lane and Foothills will open Tuesday, June 6. Recreation swim hours there are from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Swim lessons run Tuesdays through Fridays.
