The 711-foot-long bridge spans across Agua Fria River at Deer Valley Road and 109th Avenue. Because it’s an all-weather crossing, the bridge will improve traffic flow during storms, give emergency vehicles a direct route to residents living in unincorporated Maricopa County and provide a shorter drive time for residents commuting to and from Peoria, according to a news release.
“This bridge unifies a community,” said Maricopa County Board of Supervisor Clint Hickman, District 4. “On one side of the bridge, you have incorporated Peoria and on the other side, you have unincorporated Cross River and then Sun City West. It’s a great example of the investment of infrastructure dollars in Maricopa County providing a much-needed connection in the Northwest Valley.”
